It’s all a lie!

The Lie (Written 2008)

A falsely shining beauty,
A majesty unreal,
If we removed this fakeness
What then would that reveal?

Its myriad of wonders
All twinkle with delight
But have you ever noticed
Not everything is right?

They never cease their movement
For fear of being caught
These iridescent beauties
Fear being told they’re not.

Are all those shining jewels
Completely what they seem?
Or is the light that twinkles there
A manufactured dream?

Judge books not by their covers
But rather by their plot
Or else you’ll start believing
Things are when they are not.

I remember when I first moved out to the countryside and saw the stars for real. C= That was really a treasure of life for me. It wasn’t until a few years late that I was looking up at the sky one night, when things were less clear that usual, that I realized just how many of the lights in the sky were airplanes and the like. Being the type of person that I am, I remember thinking that it was a lot like the world around us- it seems so great when you don’t look hard, but there is a lot about it that isn’t totally really. It has always been a dream of mine to find a sky that I can watch and see nothing but the stars that were there from the start. C=
